More information
In maths, the factors of a number are the ways that you can divide it evenly into separate pieces.
For example, 12 items can be divided into 2 groups of 6, into 3 groups of 4, into 4 groups of 3, or into 6 groups of 2.
Mathematically, it can be written as \(3 \times 4\) or \(2 \times 6\).
This means that its factors are 2, 3, 4 and 6.
